François Blanc, the founder of Monaco as we know it today, once said: “À quoi bon le savoir-faire sans le faire-savoir?”    (What good is know-how if no one knows about it?)

François Blanc built Monaco’s glamourous foundations from scratch, and was very clever about how to get visitors; Monaco’s newspaper (which he published) partnered with Paris newspaper Le Monde, which printed features about this exciting and exotic new destination called Monte Carlo. The railway started getting pressure to make it easier for visitors to get there, which prompted the extension of the line from Nice to Monte Carlo.

Too often, great ideas get outshined by good ideas, only because the latter get talked about. Actually, they talk about themselves and share their ideas, which generates interest, discussion and involvement. In fact, this is (almost) the only way for success to occur publicly. Things worked out nicely for Monaco…

Don’t be shy, or afraid to tell people about your a good idea – it’s only pompous if it isn’t true.
