Facebook users have recently voiced their anger at the new terms and conditions, which says that data could be erased without warning. Such a fuss that FB reverted to its previous terms and conditions.

Consumers: 1 – Facebook: 0

Of course, no one has contested the previous terms, which include this:

“By posting User Content to any part of the Site, you automatically grant, and you represent and warrant that you have the right to grant, to the Company an irrevocable, perpetual, non-exclusive, transferable, fully paid, worldwide license (with the right to sublicense) to use, copy, publicly perform, publicly display, reformat, translate, excerpt (in whole or in part) and distribute such User Content for any purpose, commercial, advertising, or otherwise, on or in connection with the Site or the promotion thereof, to prepare derivative works of, or incorporate into other works, such User Content, and to grant and authorize sublicenses of the foregoing.”

Think about it…

That doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t use it, just keep it in mind when you’re wondering if you should post THIS picture. If you’re not sure, just don’t.      I’m just saying: No one wants to end up on those home-made “priceless” pictures or worse yet; am undesirable picture in a nationally distributed ad…

Consumers:1 – Facebook: ? (symbol for infinity)

Sadly, I think that someday, I will be getting a PR or crisis management call from someone who needs help dealing with this kind of awkward situation. (Though I hope not)
