The Winter Olympics are coming to Canada in February.  As has been the tradition since 1988, the Jamaican bobsled team will be competing for Gold. That’s right, Usain Bolt, your fellow countrymen are going for gold by racing a 4-place cigar made of metal, on ice, at about 120 km/h (about 78 mph, for y’all who prefer miles).

Every 4 years the news media profiles these 4 athletes, and Disney even made a movie about the first 4 Jamaican competitors. But, if the have been doing it every time, is it still news? Well, Yes it is.

You see, It is interesting to my nephew who is hearing it for the first time. And his friends. And my colleague from South America. Not every one has seen what I have seen, read what I have read or been born as long as I have. Noobs / Newbies / FNGs / Rookies will always be around, and to them, everything is new.

Sometimes, I overlook this when I try to look for an interesting, unprecedented, NEWSWORTHY angle for my clients’ stories and happenings. How many times has the crime of the century been reported? Know what I mean?

I found a great case for tutoring noobs, it is certainly worth a read.
